What is the difference between fuel dumping and fuel jettisoning?
This definitions are almost similar. However jettisoning fuel means that the fuel is in the container that can be detached during the flight. Jettison means to throw or drop (something, not only fuel) from any aircraft. Dumping fuel means the fuel (alone) is jettisoned. Any item (removable in flight) from the aircraft can be jettisoned. For instance, a combat aircraft jettisons its fuel tank, while a civil airliner dumps the fuel, not the tank.
We can compare this situation with water in a bucket, if somebody was holding water in a bucket, just pouring the water on the ground would be called 'dumping fuel' and dropping the bucket with water would be 'jettisoning fuel'.
