National stereotypes, national traditions. Топик по английскому для Аэрофлота

A nation is represented by a community of people who share their common history and as a rule a common language. In general they can live in the same area. Every nation had its own culture. Culture may be described as our usual and routine life: it is a way of communication and life. Every nation can have its own traditions and customs, behavior. Let's take as an example British people... They're reserved, tradition-loving. Also they are considered to be courteous, honest, extremely nationalistic. In my opinion, they have a specific sense of humor, and to tell the truth I don't understand it. On the contrary, they can't understand Russian jokes. Their humour is delicate.

Besides, many nations have their stereotypes. For example there is a stereotype about Britain that all British people are friends with a Queen. It's not true, there are different political opinions all over the country. Stereotypes mostly concern people's appearance, language, food, habits and even clothes (like Russian ushanka), symbols and toys, psychological traits of a nationality, attitudes, values. However every stereotype and generalization must be taken with a grain of salt, because as we all know there are black and white sheep in every herd.

Shopping and fashion. Топик по английскому для Аэрофлота

Fashion and shopping.

Shopping nowadays in changing in my opinion. It is becoming like shopping by distance.
Nowadays people purchase even clothes or shoes using online shopping.  So shopping centres are becoming less popular. There is often a possibility to try on different clothes or shoes when they are delivered. The same with electronics. You can give back an item if something is wrong or you are not satisfied. Despite the popularity of online purchasing many people, especially women (who are considered shopaholics), still enjoy window shopping (looking at products in shop windows) and browsing in shops. They can walk around the shops for hours. This has benefits such as you can try on clothes as many times as you need and buy the latest fashion items.
As for me, I like any shopping, including online and window shopping. I go shopping several times a week. Nowadays there are so many types of shops — the shopping centers, the hypermarkets like Auchan, the supermarkets, the bakery, household shops, butchery and grocery. I adore shopping centers. As a rule I do the shopping with my friends.
As for fashion, we usually pass by colourful shop-windows, we see lots of ads everywhere: on buses, billboards, Internet, TV and in magazines and newspapers. There are disadvantages of fashion. First of all it can be strange. Also many teenagers pay great attention to their friends’ appearance. Sadly, if some parents can't afford buying fashionable clothes with brand labels, their children often become outsiders. So clothes can separate people into social groups.

Cinema  is important enough in the life of any society. It is one of the most popular directions of art. Many people all over the world prefer to go to the cinema because it is one of the best ways to spend free time with pleasure. However nowadays we have many video facilities, that's why less and less people visit cinema. Nevertheless, for many people cinema looks like a habit. Almost every town in Russia has a cinema. There are such genres of films as the western, the melodrama, the thriller, the musical, the action movie, the drama and the comedy.
Cinema is located in almost every town, however theatres are usually located only in big cities. Some people find it a pleasure to go to the theatre and visit it every week or month. I would like to say that the theatre is one of the most ancient directions of arts.
Theatre is a direction of art which includes many different directions such as literature, music, choreography, circus, singing, visual art, etcetera. There are some special features of theatre in different countries. For instance, lots of people know about famous classical Japanese theatre Kabuki or shadow puppetry which is also an ancient art, by the way.
As for me, I like reading more than cinemas and theatres. I like to be self-concentrated. Reading educates a person, enriches his intellect and imagination. Books help to build a person's character and moral and life values. Moreover, books bring pleasure, good mood and excitement. It's an interesting way to have free time. Sometimes we read the same book again and again, and we are not bored. There are different genres of reading: detective stories, historical books, adventure stories, novels, biographies, educational books, classics. Fairy tales are enjoyed and read by children in their early childhood, books about adventures and journeys are read by those who are fond of travelling. Legends and myths are preferred by those who like  history. Some people can't live without reading, because it is their passion.

Work, career and ambitions

Work and career are very important nowadays, because they give an opportunity to help other people, realize ourselves, develop and enjoy. At the present time young people have a lot of possibilities to get good higher education and find a well-paid dreamy job. In any city or town there are a lot of companies, firms, plants, factories which need high-qualified specialists. So young people have a big choice of career options, but many of them think that it is difficult to find something suitable to their interests and expectations. Many people make mistakes choosing their education. However higher education is always useful.
Personally, I think that if you are clever, active and full of energy, you can easily find a good job. You may even stay at home and search the Internet for vacancies. Just use e-mail, send your CV to several companies and wait for their answers. Then you can be invited for a job interview and you will be asked some questions about your job history, skills, interests and so on. If you are suitable for the position, you will be offered a job. If not, you can continue to look for a job.

For some professions it is not necessary to have higher education. For example, for flight attendant’s profession. But you need to finish cabin crew training which is not very easy. Besides, you need to have a great number of personal qualities like stress-resistance, politeness, responsibility, punctuality and very important ability to work in a team. This job is not suitable for every person. You should be strong and ready to overcome difficulties.

Career is development in any profession, growth. It looks like stairs. A flight attendant can also make a career – become an instructor, a purser, to work in business class. If a person is ambitious, he can reach his goals in any profession working hard and improving himself. However very often career growth is connected with more responsibility, so many people prefer not to change their positions. They just work, provide the best service, and improve their skills and personal characteristics.
